About Dr. Xing

Dr. Fangxu Xing is a faculty member from Harvard University (Harvard Medical School) with more than 15 years of experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision. Dr. Xing graduated from Johns Hoskins University with a background in mathematics, computer vision, data science, and deep learning. He was trained to become a postdoc researcher and AI engineer in Massachusetts General Hospital, before joining Harvard as a faculty member. As an active researcher and educator, Dr. Xing has authored hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific publications and has extensive experience developing AI technologies for healthcare and other real-world applications.

Passionate about AI education, he believes that machine learning should be approachable, practical, and engaging. Drawing on years of experience building real AI systems for medical imaging and scientific research, he helps students understand not only the theory behind modern AI, but also how these technologies are applied to solve meaningful real-world challenges. His goal is to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to continue their journey in AI, whether for research, industry, or further study. Over 11 years at Harvard, he hands-on trained over 800 students and learners, many of those have taken major positions in industry including FAANG+ companies.

Combining academic excellence with practical industry-focused experience, Dr. Xing is committed to making machine learning accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. Throughout the program, students will build a strong foundation in AI while gaining insight into how modern machine learning systems are developed, evaluated, and applied to solve real-world problems in medicine, engineering, and beyond.
