About Dr. Ramezani

Dr. Ramezani is an associate adjunct professor of computer science and a research scientist at UCLA's center for SMART health. He holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College London. He also holds an M.Sc. in Digital Signal Processing from Lancaster University and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Bangalore University. Following his PhD, he completed a Postdoc in Wireless Health at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2015.

His background spans across computer science, AI, and clinical medicine. Dr. Ramezani's previous roles include serving as the managing technical director at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He also worked as the chief technologist in the Big Data and Analytical Unit, Department of Surgery and Cancer, at Imperial College London.

He has dedicated his efforts towards the goal of transforming healthcare with artificial intelligence. His research focuses on novel methodologies for data analysis, development of remote patient monitoring frameworks, and construction of healthcare ecosystems. Through his work, he seeks to enhance our understanding and management of patients health in a more continuous and context-aware manner, improving care quality, personalizing healthcare, and facilitating early disease detection. Dr. Ramezani is an award-winning researcher, most recently receiving a Best Paper Award in 2022 for pioneering deep transfer learning in ECG heartbeat classification. At UCLA, he teaches graduate-level courses in Health Analytics and AI and Health.
